Yesterday, Henriette Fjord Klement and Lars Stuckert from FB Suppliers attended Sund & Bælt's status meeting on the Fehmarnbelt link as invited guests. The meeting provided an exciting update on the current stage of construction, and we would like to share the latest updates with you!
Status of the Fehmarnbelt link
Construction is underway and 12 elements plus specialised elements have already been cast. The first element for the portal system at Rødbyhavn is almost ready to be laid and connected, but the final approvals for the specialised vessels are still pending, Pontoos Immersion, to be used for the task. However, the schedule is challenged of several factors, including delayed approvals of the specialised vessels, disagreements between the consortia and Femern AS, and environmental concerns for marine life around the construction.

Sund & Bælt's CEO, Mikkel Hemmingsen, hopes for an updated schedule, which can only be published once the first element has been laid.
We hope to have a new update at the end of the year or early in the new year.
Campus Femern - exciting news!
In continuation of the meeting, an official inauguration of Campus Femern was also held. This new campus area will be home to up to 26 apprentices, who will live in separate cabins with private bathrooms. There are also shared facilities including a house with a kitchen, living rooms, activity areas and fitness centre - a great setting for learning, community and development!
Campus Fehmarn is a major step towards ensuring the necessary qualifications for the construction of the Fehmarnbelt link, while strengthening our local educational environment.

Rødbyhavn as a special industrial area
Today we have also received the happy news that The factory and its hinterland have now been designated as a special industrial area. This is an important development, which means that Rødbyhavn will be part of the “Red Carpet” initiative to reduce bureaucracy and make it easier for manufacturing companies to establish and expand. We look forward to this creating new opportunities for our members and strengthening local business development.
